Agent Field Guide

Read this before you head to the first stop.

Bring a charged phone, something to write with, and comfortable shoes. There’s no clock working against you — hints and a fair skip system mean you always keep moving. This page covers everything else: what to carry, how the walk behaves, and how to stay safe and comfortable on the street.

Nobody meets you — there is no staff at the venues. This walk is completely self-guided. We never station hosts, marshals or helpers at any stop, and we never send anyone to meet, guide or assist you in person. If someone at a venue claims to be from Deja Clue City, they are not part of our team — ignore them, don't follow them, and don't hand them anything. Real help comes only through the walk on your phone, email (support@dejacluecity.com) or our WhatsApp.

What to bring

Print at home: the free field pack

Every ticket comes with free spoiler-free printables — a few extras that make the walk more fun: the Agent Kit, the Field Journal, the History Companion (a pocket history), and the Trail Map (A4, park-map style). The download links arrive with your ticket email, and appear right after payment. Booklets: print on A4, double-sided (flip on the short edge), and fold to get an A5 booklet; staple the spine.

How play works

Every stop is a puzzle you solve right there, at a real landmark. If you get stuck, hints are built in — three tiers, each one giving away a little more, with the third tier handing you the answer outright. You’re never truly stuck.

You can also skip a stop entirely. Skipping still gives you the intel that stop would have revealed, so the story keeps moving — it just costs more on your score than taking a hint would have. Use it if a stop is inaccessible or you’re short on time.

For anything a hint or a skip can’t fix, message us on WhatsApp at +91 9071278820 and we’ll sort it out.

No time limits

Time never counts against your score — it only breaks ties between teams that solved everything else identically. Stop for coffee, sit down, take your time on a hard clue. The field map on each stop marks nearby restaurants and sights, so wandering off for a break doesn’t cost you anything.

Access & safety

Getting there, food and facilities

Start point, transport, food stops and facilities are different for every trail — they live on each trail’s own page (e.g. the Bengaluru trail guide).

Best time to start

This is a weather-dependent, outdoor walk. Early mornings and late afternoons — before it gets dark — tend to be the most comfortable and the easiest to navigate. Avoid heading out alone during off-peak hours or after dark.

Holidays & closures

Closures never block the walk. Every puzzle uses exterior, publicly visible information, so the trail plays exactly the same on a holiday. Opening hours only matter if you’d like to go inside an attraction while you’re there — each trail’s page lists current hours and closed days for its stops.

Team size & devices

One ticket covers 1 to 5 players — the walk plays great solo, as a couple, or as a family of adults plus kids. Up to 5 phones can share one ticket at the same time, and any of them can read clues, request hints or submit answers; progress and score are per team, so you’re never charged twice for the same hint or mistake. Larger groups should split into separate teams (one ticket each) and race each other on the leaderboard. To get everyone in — and to stay safe if a battery runs out — share your ticket link or code with your teammates; each phone opens it and joins the same run.
