Fun things to do in Bangalore this weekend

A short, honest list — built around the Cubbon Park district, where we run Bangalore's first outdoor escape room puzzle.

Skip the "47 best things" listicles. If you have one free morning or afternoon in Bengaluru, the Cubbon Park district packs the park, the museums, the grand state buildings and the food into one walkable square kilometre — and there's now a way to see all of it as a game.

1. Turn the city into a puzzle (our pick, obviously)

Deja Clue City's Bengaluru trail is Bangalore's first outdoor escape room puzzle: 7 landmarks, one story, about 3 hours on foot. You crack clues hidden in real inscriptions and statues, on your own phones, no guide and no fixed slot — start whenever your group actually manages to leave the house. ₹1,499 for the whole team of up to 5. Buy a ticket and it's a plan.

2. Cubbon Park on a vehicle-free morning

The park is closed to cars 6–8 AM daily and effectively car-free on Sundays. Early Sunday is the city at its best — runners, dogs, bamboo groves, and the red Gothic bulk of the State Central Library. (It's also the best window to play the trail.)

3. The museums nobody visits

The Government Museum on Kasturba Road is one of India's oldest, and the Venkatappa Art Gallery is right behind it. Cheap tickets, blissfully uncrowded, and right on the trail's route if you want to duck in.

4. Vidhana Soudha, properly

Everyone drives past it; almost nobody stands in front of it and actually reads it. The view of Vidhana Soudha and the High Court facing off across the road is worth the walk on its own — and yes, one of our puzzles lives there.

5. Church Street & MG Road

Finish the walk with the city's densest stretch of bookshops, cafés and breweries, ten minutes from the park. Blossom Book House is the mandatory stop.

6. VV Puram food street, after dark

If the evening is still young: dosas, obbattu, avarekai everything (in season), and the general joy of eating standing up in a crowd.
