Paris · Stop 3 of 6 · 1814
The bridge everyone crosses between the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadéro, named after a battle 700 kilometres away. Four stone horsemen stand at its ends, and one of them is our free puzzle stop.
Napoleon named the bridge after his 1806 victory over Prussia at Jena. Engineer Corneille Lamandé built it from 1808 to 1814. In 1815 the Prussian commander Blücher wanted it blown up; Tsar Alexander I intervened. The four stone horsemen arrived in 1853. For the 1937 fair the bridge was widened from about 14 metres to 35.
At the foot of the Eiffel Tower on the river side. RER C Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel, or Metro Trocadéro and walk down through the gardens. Our free Paris stop starts here among the four riders.
