Potion Class at the Glass House
SIX INGREDIENTS · ONE CAULDRON · ANY ORDER YOU LIKE
Professor Tumbleroot sneezed over her recipe card, and six potion ingredients blew across Lalbagh.
Must-see stop: the Glass House, modelled on London’s Crystal Palace, and the rock that is one of the oldest on Earth.
A puzzle walk for young wizards inside Lalbagh Botanical Garden. Collect six potion ingredients in whatever order you like, then brew them at the Glass House.
The story
Professor Hazel Tumbleroot teaches potions at a hidden garden school, and her classroom is the Glass House — the only classroom in the world made of windows. Today’s lesson was the Sprite-Sight Draught, a potion that lets you see the garden sprites of Lalbagh. Then she sneezed over her recipe card.
Whoosh! The six ingredients blew across the garden, and each one landed on the oldest or strangest thing it could find: a marble king, a tree that turned to stone, a round house for pigeons, a little tower on a giant rock, one of the oldest rocks on Earth, and a clock made of flowers. Find them all, bring them back, and brew.
Who it’s for
Kids aged 6–11 (the sweet spot is 7–10), playing as a family team with at least one grown-up. Every puzzle has a looking-and-counting part a 6-year-old can lead, plus a Professor’s bonus for older kids and grown-ups. Grown-ups may carry the bag. Students do the magic.
The route
Everything is inside Lalbagh. The Glass House is the start and the finish; the six ingredient stops are open from the beginning, and you can collect them in any order.
- The Glass House: the classroom, and later the cauldron
- The marble king: Chamarajendra Wadiyar statue
- The stone tree: the petrified tree fossil
- The round pigeon house
- The little Kempegowda tower on the big rock (stone steps, so hold small hands)
- The rock sign at the foot of the big rock (one of the oldest rocks on Earth)
- The flower clock near the Main gate
About 2 km of gentle walking, around 85 minutes. Every stop is within about 5–7 minutes of the Glass House. Tired legs? Skip a stop and the professor hands you her spare jar, so you can still brew.
Lalbagh has its own small entry ticket at the gate (check the counter for today’s prices and hours). Mornings and late afternoons are cooler, and the rock is exposed at midday. Don’t play during the flower-show weeks around 26 January and 15 August, when the garden is packed.
Price
₹1,499 per family team.
When can we play?
