Bengaluru · Stop 7 of 7 · 1962
The city's engine room: a science museum on Kasturba Road where gears turn, rockets launch and brains calculate, with a vintage steam locomotive and an aircraft parked in front. Our Bengaluru trail ends here.
Opened in 1962 to honour Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the engineer of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam and the pioneer of automated floodgates, whose birthday is India's Engineer's Day. The museum celebrates the moment Bengaluru pivoted into an industrial and scientific future.
On Kasturba Road at the south-east corner of Cubbon Park; Cubbon Park Metro and MG Road Metro are both about ten minutes away on foot. The forecourt exhibits are visible from the road; the galleries are ticketed.
